Recording for the Ohio Supreme Court Candidate Forum
On Nov 1, Asian American Coalition of Ohio (AACO) and Ohio Chinese American Association (OCAA) hosted an online candidate forum on Zoom for Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) voters to engage with the candidates for the Ohio Supreme Court in the 2024 elections. The hosts invited all six candidates that compete for three seats:
Justice Michael Donnelly (D), Ohio Supreme Court
Judge Megan Shanahan (R), Hamilton County Common Pleas Court
Justice Melody Stewart (D), Ohio Supreme Court
Justice Joe Deters (R), Ohio Supreme Court
Judge Lisa Forbes (D), 8th District Court of Appeals
Judge Dan Hawkins (R), Franklin County Court of Common Pleas
Justice Michael Donnelly, Justice Melody Stewart and Judge Lisa Forbes attended the forum. Judge Dan Hawkins accepted the invitation but was unable to attend due to a family emergency. Justice Joe Deters responded but could not attend due to conflict. Judge Megan Shanahan did not respond to the invitation. The host organizations are nonprofit, non-partisan community grassroots organizations that do not endorse or oppose any political candidate or party.
You can view the recording of the event on YouTube.

Phone Banking to Turn Out Asian American Voters
The phone banking is underway that is organized by AACO in partnership with APIAVote. Our volunteers have been calling Asian Americans and Pacific Islander voters in Ohio and encouraging them to vote. There are 200,000 eligible AAPI voters in Ohio. If every one of these voters shows up to vote, it'll make a huge difference! Can you spare a couple of hours to join our non-partisan phone banking in our final push to turn out Ohio AAPI voters?
Asian American and Pacific Islander Voter Hotline
