Hope all is well. APA Justice has launched a campaign calling for Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo to take immediate action to end the 10 years of injustice to hydrologist Sherry Chen. Would you sign on to support this effort?

The sign-on letter also asks the Department of Commerce (DOC) to account for the abuse and misconduct at multiple levels stemming from its now disbanded Investigations and Threat Management Service (ITMS).

Quick recap of Sherry Chen's 10-year ordeal:

  • 2012: Sherry Chen was investigated for spying based on false accusations

  • 2014: Sherry was arrested

  • 2015: The government dismissed all charges without explanation

  • 2016: Dept of Commerce (DOC) fired Sherry based on the same accusations; Sherry appealed

  • 2017: Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) hearing

  • 2018: Federal judge ruled DOC committed "gross injustice" against Sherry Chen, demanding DOC to reinstate Sherry; DOC appealed

  • 2021: U.S. Senate released investigative report about DOC's abuse of power and misconduct, including targeting Sherry Chen and other Asian American employees; DOC also released their internal review report, and disbanded the rogue ITMS unit that spearheaded the unlawful investigations

  • 2022: DOC fired two whistleblowers, has not taken actions to resolve Sherry's case

The deadline to co-sign is EOD April 4, 2022.
